A Bit About Me:
I’m originally from the Philippines. When I turned 16, my entire family migrated and settled on the island of Guam. Life on the island was simple and laid-back. But my younger self yearned for a fast-paced city life. Soon after graduating from the University of Guam, I packed all my belongings and moved to New York City. Needless to say, New York was such a culture shock for me. It was remarkably intimidating and exciting at the same time. I was fortunate enough to find an apartment and land a job on Wall Street within a week of moving to the city. Fast-forward to today, I am living in Upstate New York with my husband and 11-year-old son and it has been an incredible journey so far.

Critical Experiences:
Throughout my career, I have been very lucky to be a part of really talented teams who help me fully appreciate everyone’s differences and the value of teamwork. Regardless of my role, I have learned that collaboration, positivity and communication help team members focus on the work at hand and overcome adversity.

Career Development:
Aside from hard work, it is important to have an advocate at work who sees your potential and paves the way for you to move up. I am extremely lucky that I have worked for managers who went to bat for me because I have earned their trust. For instance, public speaking is my weakness, but I had managers who patiently practiced with me until I got comfortable presenting to the senior leaders. All because they want to see me succeed.

Role/Function:
I work in the Capital Management and Stress Testing team and we play a vital role in maintaining Synchrony’s required capital levels as we continue to seek growth opportunities and generate strong earnings.

Synchrony Value:
I consider myself self-driven. On an ongoing basis, both in my personal and professional life, I try to set specific goals with tangible outcomes. They don’t have to be major, it could be as simple as attending a training session on Personal Development or Work/Life Balance. These goals keep me motivated and give me a sense of accomplishment when they are done.
